Visiting Medical Students
Welcome to the Department of Pediatrics at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University!
Visiting students can choose from a variety of enriching elective courses including sub internship experiences, pediatric subspecialties and Med/Peds primary care located at the Brody Outpatient clinics and ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville, NC.
We offer the following electives to our visiting fourth year students:
- PEDS 9404 (PE404.2) – Neonatology Intensive Care Unit (NICU) (PDF)
- PEDS 9405 (PE405.1) – Adolescent Medicine (PDF) Special Permission
- PEDS 9406 (PE406.4) – Pediatric Neurology (PDF)
- PEDS 9407 (PE407.8) – Acting Internship in Hematology/Oncology (PDF)
- PEDS 9409 (PE409.4) – Pediatric Infectious Diseases (PDF)
- PEDS 9417 (PE417.2) – Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) (PDF)
- PEDS 9428 (PE428.8) – Acting Internship – Normal Newborn Medicine (PDF)
Applicants must be fourth year students in good academic standing, be actively pursuing the Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree and have completed all third year core clerkships by the start of their first scheduled elective. Qualified students should apply through the Visiting Student Application Service (VSAS) system. For more information on VSAS, visit the AAMC website or contact VSAS at vsas@aamc.org. Only students enrolled at US LCME or US AOA accredited institutions may use VSAS to submit applications and supporting documents. The Brody School of Medicine is listed in VSAS under the letter ‘T’.
At this time, Brody is not able to accept applications from international or US students attending international schools, however, students attending international schools are strongly encouraged to apply for our residency programs.
