Infectious Disease and Travel Medicine
We are involved in Resident and Medical Student education for learners from Brody School of Medicine as well as other students who rotate with us. Infectious Diseases crosses multiple disciplines and is affected by many different systems. Our goals include helping learners see how different types of infections may affect these different systems, how to approach diagnostics, and possible therapies.
Our clinical services include evaluations by referral for a wide number of conditions in the Infectious Disease, Immunology, and Travel Medicine fields. For example, these include children with complex infections that involve multi-drug resistant bacteria, fever of unknown origin, infections needing longer term antibiotics such as mycobacterium, Cystic Fibrosis associated infections, unusual and opportunistic infections, zoonoses, basic immune deficiencies, and HIV.
