Infectious Disease and Travel Medicine – Education and Training

We are involved in Resident and Medical Student education for learners from Brody School of Medicine as well as other students who rotate with us. Infectious Diseases crosses multiple disciplines and is affected by many different systems. Some of our goals are to help learners see how different types of infections may affect these different systems, how to approach diagnostics and possible therapies.

Most of the teaching is hands-on and patient directed for both Inpatient Consult and Clinic settings. We also provide formal didactic lectures through the Resident Lecture series and Morning Report. This is supplemented with literature that is focused more on the basics of what is seen and used, such as commonly used laboratories, Herpesviridae, urinary tract infections, congenital infections, pneumonias and osteomyelitis. We also provide presentations at outlying hospitals and clinics by request.
