Gastroenterology – Education and Training
The Pediatric Gastroenterology division provides education to on-site learners for medical students and Pediatric/Med-Peds residents, both in the outpatient and inpatient settings via elective rotations. Students are also encouraged to participate in observation of procedures such as esophagogastroduodenoscopy, colonoscopy, and polypectomy.
Students are taught about Pediatric Gastroenterology topics by patient interactions in the outpatient clinic and inpatient hospital services. The content focuses on common gastrointestinal and hepatic pathology seen in pediatric patients, including typical presentation, diagnosis, and management practices. A pre- and post-test is available on Blackboard for further learning and self-directed study opportunities.
